Targeted BITOU BUSH MANAGEMENT - TAP implementation

This regional project is funded under the Australian Government's Natural Heritage Trust (NHT) Program through the Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority, the Hawkesbury Nepean Catchment Management Authority, and the Dept of Environment and Climate Change (DECC). It aims to assist councils and DECC in the Sydney region to reduce the impacts of Bitou Bush (Chrysanthemoides monilifera ssp rotundata) on biodiversity through management at priority sites identified in the Bitou Bush Treat Abatement Plan (TAP).

On-ground control and eradication of Bitou Bush is being undertaken at the following TAP sites, to protect the Endangered Ecological Communities listed:

Long Reef Headland - Themeda Grassland at the Reefcare volunteer site

•  Warriewood Beach - Themeda Grassland
•  North Newport Beach - Themeda Grassland and Littoral Rainforest
•  Bilgola Headland - Themeda Grassland
•  Barrenjoey High School (Avalon Beach) - Coastal Sand Dune Complex
•  Governor Phillip Park (Palm Beach)- Coastal Sand Dune Complex

Dept of Environment and Climate Change (NPWS)
•  Towra Point Nature Reserve - 5 plant communities and 6 threatened plant species
•  Lion Island & Barrenjoey (Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park) - Themeda Grassland
