Weed Management Strategy for the Sydney Metropolitan CMA Region

The Weed Management Strategy for the Sydney Metropolitan CMA Region 2007-2011 was released in June 2007. The strategy was developed in consultation with state and local government land management agencies, and the bush regeneration industry, as a guide to improve strategic weed management and co-ordination throughout the CMA region.

Development of the strategy was funded by the Australian Government's Natural Heritage Trust, received through the Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority (SMCMA).

The intention of the strategy is to build upon the great work that has already been done and guide the coordination and allocation of resources across the catchment over the next 5 years.

The Sydney Weeds Committees and the SMCMA are now implementating some of the key actions in the strategy:
- prioritising weeds in the region.
- collating baseline data and mapped information about the high priority weeds.
- developing regional maps of the high priority weeds.
- establishing a web based weed alert system.
- developing a standard format for agency reporting on weed management.
