Sydney North Regional Weeds Committee

Stretching from Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River in the south to the Hawkesbury Nepean River in the north, the Sydney North region is characterised by corridor systems of bushland often in steep terrain through urban areas, and large tracts of National Parks. Bushland edges are significantly impacted on by invasive weeds, associated with adjacent urban pressures such as stormwater runoff and high nutrient loads.

The Sydney North Regional Weeds Committee (SNRWC) is made up of land managers from the local Councils and statutory authorities within Sydney's north. It was formed to promote a cooperative and coordinated regional approach to weed management in the region. The committee was established in 1996 following encouragement from NSW Dept of Primary Industries, Catchment Management Committees and land management officers responsible for weed management in the  region.

The committee meets quarterly on the second Wednesday of February, May, August and November, and has a part-time Project Officer.

The following Regional Weed Plans apply to the Sydney North Region:

Aquatic Weeds
Ludwigia
Bitou Bush/Boneseed
Pampas Grass
Privet
Green Cestrum
Grasses

Various Regional Weed Projects are being undertaken in the Sydney North Region to implement these plans.
